Why are so many prepared to put themselves through such an experience ? Leaving aside any ‘15 minutes of TV fame’ considerations, the difficulty for many entrepreneurs and fledgling companies is that they are caught between a rock and hard place when it comes to getting financial backing. Banks will not look at them because they represent far too high a risk, while venture capital trusts (VCTs) are interested in much bigger fish to fry. Business angels – the Dragons in the Den – help to fill that gap on a more informal basis, providing not only financial backing but often their own time, contacts and business expertise as well.

Persistence over time
Common-sense tells us that objects persist across time, that there is some sense in which you are the same person you were yesterday, in which the oak is the same as the acorn, in which you perhaps even can step into the same river twice. ...
"Poor" mindset peoples have an exit barier towards success. There are two extremes: envy and greed.

Success as T.A.'s unsuccessfull, rather than "so f***ing rich" and than "that loser".

:) a "useful life skill"

Living 'poor' and loving it
By Donna Freedman

... Blaming the victims ?
... I'm redefining the word so that it will lose its power to harm. Being poor is what my dad would call a "useful life skill."
...
Being "poor" for a while -- that is, making a conscious choice to manage money differently -- would be good for them.
Here, then, are the rules for How to Be Poor:
Rule 1: Have very little money.
Rule 2: Live on it.
Rule 3: Rule 2 will change your life, if you let it.
...
An attitude of gratitude
... discovering how little I really need and how much I already have.
... What's important is knowing that I have everything I need and some of what I want. Although I have never been more broke, more tired or more uncertain about the future, I've also never been happier. I'm no Zen master, but I can say that having less makes you that much more grateful for what's in front of you. I've also learned that paring down possessions means a lot more room in your life as well as in your house.
... Being rich wouldn't necessarily make me happy or generous. Those two states of mind have nothing to do with your bank balance.
There's a world of difference between poverty and poverty of spirit.
Not that being poor makes me noble. It doesn't. It just makes me careful. And grateful.
